Circles, squares, rectangles. Shapes are all around us.

Which do you see in the photos?

Look closely at the photo of the quilt. It uses large right triangles to make even larger squares.

And speaking of squares… Did you know squares are a special type of rectangle? Yup. Squares are rectangles with four equal sides. So you can say the “simple” square is an equilateral parallelogram.

Circle back to circles for a minute. They’re round and easy to draw. But not everyone draws circles the same way. Researchers analyzed data from an online drawing game. They discovered 86% of people in the U.S. drew circles counterclockwise. But 81% of people in Japan drew circles in a clockwise direction.
